Many years ago when Judith and I were
doing a trip to the South Island we took the
Picton Ferry to cross Cook Strait. Not far out to sea from the heads of
Wellington, this magnificent Black-backed Gull parked itself in the air
only a couple of metres out from and slightly above the main deck railing
where Judith and I were taking in the view.
Fortunately I had my camera with me and was able to capture this wonderful
image which I find so reminiscent of Star Trek's famous Starship
Enterprise.
